Session Information
We live in an age of pictures; an awesome photo can propel your career forward, while a flat one can leave you stuck in rut.
I suggest we do some outdoor looks and some indoor looks, depending on how much time and how many looks you’ve booked. Shooting a range of looks over the course of the session allows us to get a variety of shots, allowing you to mix and match for whatever purposes you choose.
Part of my process is to edit the session with you as we go. We will inspect each shot together to determine whether you could potentially use that image or not. By shooting and editing in this manner, we can adjust the focus of the shots during the session to account for anything we feel we may have missed along the way. You'll leave knowing exactly what you’ll be getting.
The chosen shots will be posted to your own password-protected proofing website either before you leave the studio or shortly thereafter. If you’d like, you can share the password with others to help you choose which shot(s) to be retouched. It is your responsibility to work with the images that we decided to keep during your session. Once you've chosen the shots you'd like to work with, you will place an order for retouching with me. For quality control purposes, I prefer to have all work handled by my retouching team.
Should you ever return, you can take advantage of our returning client discount!
Clothing:
The #1 rule for me is that you have to love it! If you don’t feel comfortable in it, you won’t shoot well in it. Feel free to bring a range of different options for clothing, if you booked a package with more than one look. I suggest a variety of colors and necklines. If you have any doubt about whether something will work or not, just bring it along.
Don't worry about being seasonal; anything from t-shirts and tank tops to sweaters and light jackets can work. I love textures and layers as well. Go minimal on jewelry, though; studs or small earrings and simple necklaces work, but anything hanging or chunky usually draws too much attention in a headshot.
Have fun with this! If you feel your wardrobe is missing something, go shopping. We’ll keep the tags on in case you’d like to return the items after the shoot. I have a steamer in the studio too, so we'll be able to take care of any wrinkles.
Hair and Makeup:
Women:
It is highly recommended that women take advantage of my professional makeup artist. The cost is $400, which includes makeup and hair help. The makeup is applied specifically for the lighting we use. We usually start natural to give you a clean, simple look. We will do touch-ups and subtle changes as the shoot progresses. If you’d like to start off a little heavier on the makeup, we are happy to do that as well, just let us know.
We ask that you come to your session with your hair the way you’d like. You want your hair in your pictures to be as close as possible to the way it looks on a fantastic hair day. My makeup artist can help ensure it’s shoot ready. Together, you can discuss what you’d like to do with it and make a game plan for the shoot. If you need a lot done to your hair (e.g., if you’re naturally curly and want to go straight), there will be an extra $50 charge. Please make sure you discuss this with me prior to your session, so we can maximize our time together.
Men:
I don't recommend makeup for men, but my makeup artist can provide light grooming on the shoot for $150, if you like. Any blemishes, etc. will be taken care of in the retouching process. If you’d like to shoot with facial hair, please come to your shoot with whatever level of growth you’d like. We can shave or trim it down mid-shoot as well--just bring whatever grooming products you’d need in order to get that done.
Scheduling:
I am available for shoots Monday-Friday, usually beginning at 10am. I do tweak my schedule depending upon how each day goes, so I ask folks to be a bit flexible. Please be aware that the sessions overlap for women getting makeup done. Women are in makeup for approximately one hour, so we are usually conducting a shoot while the makeup artist is preparing our next client. We ask that you not have anything scheduled close to the end of your session, in case we end up needing a little more time with you.
Turnaround Time
Our turnaround time is usually 7-10 days. . All the services are included in our packages. We'll send you a link to download all the digital files.
